Jefferson's story

Right before I turned eight years old, my family made a cross-country trip in a station wagon from Anchorage, AK to Freeman, VA.  This was a huge culture shock for me leaving a predominantly white community to being “baptized into rural black culture”. Growing up, I don’t recall dealing with racism as a child.

"I WAS BAPTIZED INTO RURAL BLACK CULTURE."

It was not until my adult years that I would have to navigate these confrontations in real time.  These situations happened during my years as an educator, as a citizen of my community, and as a minister.

I believe that we are called to move to a place of reconciliation with our brothers and sisters in Christ. As 2 Cor. 5:18-20 explains the ministry of reconciliation, we must work to see relationships in the body healed and restored regardless of the past.  This will happen by addressing systemic racism and racist ideologies that perpetuate the negative impacts that plague all people.

Race and grace is designed to give you resources, tools, workshops, and courses that will help you grow and develop in your biblical worldview about racial justice. Race and grace also provides a private space to openly share and encourage others in their journey to understand differences among ethnic groups.
